What we are telling you, and what we are not
Every legal value on this site is read from a primary source and carries a link to it, plus the date we last checked it. That is the strongest claim we make: on that date, the source said this. It is not a claim about how a court, a building official or a utility would apply it to your situation.
Rules also change, and they change faster than a page gets rechecked. Treat the last-checked date as part of the answer, and follow the source link if the date is old.
Specific to Connecticut
One Connecticut-specific caution. Section 9 took effect on 1 October 2026, and Section 10 of the same act directs the State Building Inspector, the State Fire Marshal and the Codes and Standards Committee to consider provisions for the safe installation of these devices in the next amendments to the State Building Code and the Fire Safety Code. Those amendments had not been adopted when we last checked this page. The code requirements that apply to you are therefore expected to change, and the act is explicit that it does not exempt anyone from them.
Electrical safety
We do not publish installation, mounting or wiring instructions, and we will not. A solar device plugged into a building circuit is electrical work, and the authorities on it are the manufacturer's manual, the electrical and building codes that apply where you live, and a licensed electrician. Where a state statute names a standard, we say which standard it names; that is not the same as certifying that a particular product meets it.
Where a value is missing
A dash and a grey “not confirmed” badge mean we could not establish the value from a source we trust. It does not mean the answer is no, and it does not mean the answer is yes. Nothing on this site is ever filled in with a plausible guess.
